A Comparison between
Muhammad and Jesus doctrine, which of their doctrine is
the closest to Abraham's worship and his tradition in his
(Abraham) life?
- Sahih
Bukhari Volume 5, Book
58, Number 169:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
The Prophet met Zaid bin 'Amr bin Nufail in the
bottom of (the valley of) Baldah before any
Divine Inspiration came to the Prophet. A meal
was presented to the Prophet but he refused to
eat from it. (Then it was presented to Zaid) who
said, "I do not eat anything which you
slaughter in the name of your stone idols. I eat
none but those things on which Allah's Name has
been mentioned at the time of slaughtering."
Zaid bin 'Amr used to criticize the way Quraish
used to slaughter their animals, and used to say,
"Allah has created the sheep and He has sent
the water for it from the sky, and He has grown
the grass for it from the earth; yet you
slaughter it in other than the Name of Allah. He
used to say so, for he rejected that practice and
considered it as something abominable.
Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Zaid bin 'Amr bin Nufail went
to Sham, inquiring about a true religion to
follow. He met a Jewish religious scholar and
asked him about their religion. He said, "I
intend to embrace your religion, so tell me some
thing about it." The Jew said, "You
will not embrace our religion unless you receive
your share of Allah's Anger." Zaid said,
"'I do not run except from Allah's Anger,
and I will never bear a bit of it if I have the
power to avoid it. Can you tell me of some other
religion?" He said, "I do not know any
other religion except the Hanif." Zaid
enquired, "What is Hanif?" He said,
"Hanif is the religion of (the prophet)
Abraham who was neither a Jew nor a Christian,
and he used to worship None but Allah
(Alone)" Then Zaid went out and met a
Christian religious scholar and told him the same
as before. The Christian said, "You will not
embrace our religion unless you get a share of
Allah's Curse." Zaid replied, "I do not
run except from Allah's Curse, and I will never
bear any of Allah's Curse and His Anger if I have
the power to avoid them. Will you tell me of some
other religion?" He replied, "I do
not know any other religion except Hanif."
Zaid enquired, "What is Hanif?" He
replied, Hanif is the religion of (the prophet)
Abraham who was neither a Jew nor a Christian and
he used to worship None but Allah (Alone)"
When Zaid heard their Statement about (the
religion of) Abraham, he left that place, and
when he came out, he raised both his hands and
said, "O Allah! I make You my Witness that I
am on the religion of Abraham."
Narrated Asma bint Abi Bakr: I saw Zaid bin Amr
bin Nufail standing with his back against the
Ka'ba and saying, "O people of Quraish! By
Allah, none amongst you is on the religion of
Abraham except me." He used to preserve the
lives of little girls: If somebody wanted to kill
his daughter he would say to him, "Do not
kill her for I will feed her on your
behalf." So he would take her, and when she
grew up nicely, he would say to her father,
"Now if you want her, I will give her to
you, and if you wish, I will feed her on your
behalf."
In this writing, i will show you
a simple and easy perspective to understand that Muhammad
PBUH is not a false Prophet and he is a true prophet that
has true connection with previous prophet mainly father
Abraham. If this is true, so Islam is a true religion too
and should not be claimed as a wrong religion as claimed
by people of Faithfreedom.org or the others. Of course,
to build basic of understanding of this issue, i attempt
to bring the doctrine of the two biggest religion on this
planet as a comparison, viz Islam and Christian.
Firstly, let us see how Islam
doctrine and its prophet, Muhammad PBUH can factually
build a connection with father Abraham's tradition to
Islamic tradition as well:
1. On idol statue
demolition
"And by Allâh, I shall plot a
plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and
turned your backs." So he broke them to pieces,
(all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to
it. They said: "Who has done this to our âliha
(gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers."
They said: "We heard a young man talking (against)
them who is called Ibrâhim (Abraham)." (S.
21:57-60)
Both
Abraham PBUH and Mohammad PBUH really did the same
action.
Sahih Bukhari Volume 5, Book 59, Number 583:
Narrated Abdullah:
When the Prophet entered Mecca on the day of the
Conquest, there were 360 idols around the Ka'ba. The Prophet started striking them with
a stick he had in his hand and was saying, "Truth
has come and Falsehood will neither start nor will it
reappear.
2. On reconstruction of the Ka'ba as the Qibla (indicator
setting to direction) of Muslim prayer and house of
worship
[Yusuf Ali] And
remember Abraham and Isma'il raised the foundations of
the House (With this prayer): "Our Lord! Accept
(this service) from us: For Thou art the All- Hearing,
the All-knowing. (S. 002.127)
And the below hadith shows that Muhammad did and
followed this Abraham action as well:
Sahih Bukhari Volume 2,
Book 26, Number 653:
Narrated 'Aisha:
(the wife of the Prophet) that Allah's Apostle said to
her, "Do you know
that when your people (Quraish) rebuilt the Ka'ba, they
decreased it from its original foundation laid by
Abraham?" I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why don't
you rebuild it on its original foundation laid by
Abraham?" He
replied, "Were it not for the fact that your people
are close to the pre-lslamic Period of ignorance (i.e.
they have recently become Muslims) I would have done so." The sub-narrator, 'Abdullah (bin
'Umar ) stated: 'Aisha 'must have heard this from Allah's
Apostle for in my opinion Allah's Apostle had not placed
his hand over the two corners of the Ka'ba opposite
Al-Hijr only because the Ka'ba was not rebuilt on its
original foundations laid by Abraham.
3. On affirmation
that Muhammad follows the Abraham's tradition to build a
sanctuary
[Yusuf Ali]
Remember We made the House a place of assembly for men
and a place of safety; and take ye the station of Abraham
as a place of prayer; and We covenanted with Abraham and
Isma'il, that they should sanctify My House for those who
compass it roun d, or use it as a retreat, or bow, or
prostrate themselves (therein in prayer). (S.
002.125)
Again the below hadith shows Muhammad did and followed
Abraham action as well:
Sahih Bukhari Volume 3,
Book 34, Number 339:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin Zaid:
The Prophet said, "The
Prophet Abraham made Mecca a sanctuary, and asked for
Allah's blessing in it. I made Medina a sanctuary as
Abraham made Mecca a sanctuary and I asked for Allah's
Blessing in its measures the Mudd and the Sa as Abraham
did for Mecca.
Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 34, Number 340:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah's Apostle said, "O Allah bestow your blessings
on their measures, bless their Mudd and Sa." The
Prophet meant the people of Medina.
4. On the prayer of
Islam
Sahih Bukhari
Volume 4, Book 55, Number 588:
Narrated Abu Humaid As-Sa'idi:
The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! How shall
we (ask Allah to) send blessings on you?"
Allah's Apostle replied, "Say: O Allah! Send Your
Mercy on Muhammad and on his wives and on his off spring,
as You sent Your Mercy on Abraham's family; and send Your
Blessings on Muhammad and on his offspring, as You sent
Your Blessings on Abraham's family, for You are the Most
Praise-worthy, the Most Glorious."
Sahih Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, Number 321:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
We said, "O Allah's Apostle! (We know) this greeting (to you) but how shall we invoke Allah for you?" He said, "Say! Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin 'Abdika wa rasulika kama- sallaita 'ala all Ibrahim wa barik ala Muhammadin wa'ala all Muhammadin kama barakta 'ala all Ibrahim.' Al-Laith said: 'Ala Muhammadin wa 'ala all Muhammadin kama barakta ala all Ibrahim.
Islam builds a good connection
with father Abraham PBUH in the prayer (shalat) by
calling Abraham name. There is a sunnah to read prayer
(praise) Ibrahimiyah in the last tasyahud of shalat:
"Kama shallaita 'alaa
sayyidinaa ibraahiima wa'alaa aali sayyidinaa ibraahiim
wabaarik 'alaa sayyidinaa muhammad wa 'alaa aali
sayyidinaa muhammad. Kamaa baarakta 'alaa sayyidinaa
ibraahiima wa 'alaa aali sayyidinaa ibraahiim fil 'aala
miina innaka hamiidum majiid"
The meaning is:
"In the same manner as
ever Thou bestow blessing to Ibrahim and his family. And
bestow blessing to Muhammad and his family, in the same
manner Thou blessed Ibrahim and his family. In the whole
universe Thou, Most Exalted, Most Glorious."
5. On the
pilgrimage (hajj)
[Yusuf Ali]
Remember We made the House a place of assembly for men
and a place of safety; and take ye the
station of Abraham as a place of prayer; and
We covenanted with Abraham and Isma'il, that they should
sanctify My House for those who compass it roun d, or use
it as a retreat, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein
in prayer). (S. 002.125)
In fact, Muhammad kept and followed Abraham action as
well:
Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 10, Number 1914:
Narrated Ibn Mirba' al-Ansari:
Yazid ibn Shayban said: We were
in a place of stationing at Arafat which Amr
(ibn Abdullah) thought was very far away from where the
imam was stationing, when Ibn Mirba' al-Ansari came to us
and told (us): I am a messenger for you from the Apostle
of Allah (peace_be_upon_him). He tells you: Station where you are performing your
devotions for you are an heir to the heritage of Abraham.
6. On Eid-ul Adha
(sacrifice feast day)
[Yusuf Ali]
Then, when (the son) reached (the
age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son!
I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see
what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my
father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if
God so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" (S.
037.102)
Constantly, Muhammad did and followed this Abraham
action as well:
Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 4, Number 140:
Narrated Kuraib:
Ibn 'Abbas said, "The Prophet slept till he snored
and then prayed (or probably lay till his breath sounds
were heard and then got up and prayed)." Ibn 'Abbas
added: "I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt,
Maimuna, the Prophet slept for a part of the night, (See
Fateh-al-Bari page 249, Vol. 1), and late in the night,
he got up and performed ablution from a hanging water
skin, a light (perfect) ablution and stood up for the
prayer. I, too, performed a similar ablution, then I went
and stood on his left. He drew me to his right and prayed
as much as Allah wished, and again lay and slept till his
breath sounds were heard. Later on the Mua'dhdhin
(callmaker for the prayer) came to him and informed him
that it was time for Prayer. The Prophet went with him
for the prayer without performing a new ablution."
(Sufyan said to 'Amr that some people said, "The
eyes of Allah's Apostle sleep but his heart does not
sleep." 'Amr replied, "I
heard 'Ubaid bin 'Umar saying that the dreams of Prophets
were Divine Inspiration, and then he recited the verse:
'I (Abraham) see in a dream, (O my son) that I offer you
in sacrifice (to Allah)." (37.102) (See Hadith No.
183)
Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 15, Number 2789:
Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) sacrificed two horned
rams which were white with black markings and had been
castrated. When he made them face the qiblah, he said: I
have turned my face towards Him. Who created the heavens
and the earth, following
Abraham's religion, the true in faith, and I am not one
of the polytheists. My prayer, and my service of
sacrifice, my life and my death are all for Allah, the
Lord of the Universe, Who has no partner. That is what I
was commanded to do, and I am one of the Muslims.
O Allah it comes from Thee and is given to Thee from
Muhammad and his people. In the name of Allah, and Allah
is Most Great. He then made sacrifice.
7. On bowing down
to Allah the Almighty
[Yusuf Ali]
Remember We made the House a place of assembly for men
and a place of safety; and take ye the
station of Abraham as a place of prayer; and We
covenanted with Abraham and Isma'il, that they should
sanctify My House for those who compass it roun d, or use
it as a retreat, or bow, or
prostrate themselves (therein in prayer). (S.
002.125)
In this proof, Muhammad could carried on the tradition of
Abraham as well:
Sunan Abu Dawud Book 3, Number 0885:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: When one of you bows, he
should say three time,:"Glory be to my mighty
Lord," and when he prostrates, he should say:
"Glory be to my most high Lord" three times.
This is the minimum number.
Sunan Abu Dawud Book 3, Number 0873:
Narrated Hudhayfah:
Hudhayfah saw the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him)
praying at night. He said: Allah is most great"
three times, "Possessor of kingdom, grandeur,
greatness and majesty."
He then began (his prayer) and
recited Surah al-Baqarah; then he bowed and he paused in
bowing as long as he stood up; he said while bowing,
"Glory be to my mighty Lord," "Glory be to
my mighty Lord" ; then he raised his
head, after bowing: then he stood up and he paused as
long as he paused in bowing and said, "Praise be to
my Lord" ; then he prostrated and paused in
prostration as long as he paused in the standing
position; he said while prostrating: "Glory be to my
most high Lord"; then he raised his head after
prostration, and sat as long as he prostrated, and said
while sitting: "O my Lord forgive me." He
offered four rak'ahs of prayer and recited in them Surah
al-Baqarah, Aal Imran, an-Nisa, al-Ma'idah, or al-An'am.
The narrator Shu'bah doubted.
Conclusion: Today, people know that all
of the doctrine of Muhammad (Islam) and the doctrine of
Abraham, both of them, at last, can be implemented,
compromised, synchronised and followed by its believer as
well.
The question is: Is Muhammad a true descendant
of Abraham? You
decide!
Then, let us have a look at some
proofs of traditions of Abraham in his past life history
compared to Jesus doctrine that recorded in the Bible:
1. On idol statue
demolition
The similar action of
Abraham PBUH and Mohammad PBUH also done by Moses (P)
under GOD command:
And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of
Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in
and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay
every man his brother, and every man his companion, and
every man his neighbor. And the children of Levi did
according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the
people that day about three thousand men. (Exodus
32:27-28)
And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the
calf, which Aaron made. (Exodus 32:35)
Note:
According to Islam, Al-Quran gives
statement that calf statue was made by As-Samiri, instead
of prophet Aaron PBUH.
On the other hand, Jesus never did
the same action, at least to release idolatry system in
his life. Jesus mostly taught people at synagogues and
just said:
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say,
Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Matthew
4:17)
So in connection with Isaiah and
Moses prophecy (i.e Deuteronomy 18:15), this point surely
couldn't be addressed to Jesus himself,
And I will bring the blind by
a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that
they have not known: I will make darkness light before
them, and crooked things straight. These things will
I do unto them, and not forsake them.
They shall be turned back,
they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven
images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods. (Isaiah
42:16-17)
Below is the translation to
indonesian reader:
42:16 Aku mau memimpin
orang-orang buta di jalan yang tidak mereka kenal, dan
mau membawa mereka berjalan di jalan-jalan yang tidak
mereka kenal. Aku mau membuat kegelapan yang di depan
mereka menjadi terang dan tanah yang berkeluk-keluk
menjadi tanah yang rata. Itulah hal-hal yang hendak
Kulakukan kepada mereka, yang pasti akan Kulaksanakan.
42:17 Orang-orang yang percaya kepada patung pahatan akan
berpaling ke belakang dan mendapat malu, yaitu
orang-orang yang berkata kepada patung tuangan:
"Kamulah allah kami!" (yesaya 42:15-17)
2. On building
altar, in which Abraham can worship to God
(KJV) And the LORD appeared unto
Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and
there builded he an altar unto
the LORD, who appeared unto him.
And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of
Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west,
and Hai on the east: and there
he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the
name of the LORD. (Genesis 12:7)
Abraham and Isaac continued
building several altars else in their life that shown in
some other verses. But as far as i know, i never found a
record in the Bible that Jesus ever built an altar in his
life.
3. On the
day of sacrifice of Abraham's son issue
(KJV) And
they came to the place which God had told him of; and
Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order,
and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon
the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his
hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel
of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said,
Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do
thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest
God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only
son from me. And Abraham lifted
up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram
caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and
took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in
the stead of his son.
And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh:
as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it
shall be seen. (Genesis 22:9-14)
Again, as far as i know, i never found a record
in the Bible that Jesus ever celebrated event of the
Abraham's son sacrifice.
4. On the
prayer of Jesus
(KJV) After
this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will
be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (Mattew
9:10)
Look, Jesus didn't call Abraham
name in his prayer.
5. On bowing down
(or prostrating) to GOD
(KJV) And when Abram was ninety years
old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto
him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou
perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee,
and will multiply thee exceedingly. And
Abram fell on his face: and God talked with
him, saying, (Genesis 17:3)
(KJV) And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and
prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this
cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou
wilt. (Mattew 26:39)
In this incident, Jesus actually
ever took a bow to God in his life. In this thesis, can
be 'assumed' that Jesus followed the Abraham's tradition.
Next, let us take a look
at what about St. Paul saying in the New Testament:
(KJV) That is, They which are the
children of the flesh, these are
not the children of God: but the children of the promise
are counted for the seed. For this is the word of
promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a
son. (Romans 9:7-8)
(KJV) I say then, Hath God cast away
his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of
the tribe of Benjamin. (Romans 11:1)
And also Genesis
17:21 stated: But my covenant will I establish with
Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at
this set time in the next year.
The important question is: Did
St. Paul and Jesus ever or factually synchronise and
follow the Abraham's action toward their doctrine as seed
of Abraham or
Isaac? So far, i say no!
The fact is: Today, people know that
christian believer don't bring any doctrine of Abraham to
its worship tradition like: bowing to worship God, having
a sacrifice feast day of Abraham's son, to call Abraham
name in prayer, and to build a sanctuary .
According to romans
9:7-8, a question could be proposed: What values could be realised
from romans 9:7-8 verses toward conviction of christian
to point to Jesus as a true inheritor of Abraham?
Even, a contradiction occurs between romans 9:7-8
and john 8:58:
(ASV) Jesus
said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Before Abraham was
born, I am (John 8:58)
What the hell is this? A
blasphemy to father Abraham?
[note: word of God meaning
(in Indonesia)]
FaithFreedom.org site brings a satire to Islam as an
extremist doctrine, cruel religion, etc, but does they
ever know the Jews doctrine that still valid, undertaken,
and implemented by nation of Israel until now? Here is
for example:
(KJV) When thou comest nigh unto
a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto
it. And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace,
and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the
people that is found therein shall be tributaries
unto thee, and they shall serve thee. And if it will make no peace with
thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt
besiege it: And when the LORD thy God hath delivered
it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male
thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women,
and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is
in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou
take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of
thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given
thee. Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which
are very far off from thee, which are not of the
cities of these nations. But of the cities of these
people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an
inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that
breatheth: But thou shalt utterly destroy them.
(Deuteronomy 20:10-17)
